Public lecture Lecture Bio(R)evolution: new Faces, new Ideas, new Horizons
Invitation public lecture with Prof. Yasin Dagdas (COS) and Prof. Simon Wiegert (Med. Fac. MA)
The Faculty for Biosciences announces the fourth edition of a public lecture series entitled “Bio(R)evolution: new Faces, new Ideas, new Horizons” on December 4th 2025 at 6 p.m. in the Large Lecture Hall in INF230 (COS).
This series is meant to introduce newly appointed or co-opted professors of our faculty to the academic community. On that occasion our new colleagues will present their past achievements, ongoing projects, and the potential societal impact of their work. Additionally, the lectures highlight the relevance of fundamental research at the University of Heidelberg in addressing major societal challenges, potentially linking to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The target audience includes faculty members, students, researchers, and the general public interested in biosciences. The lecture format typically involves two presentations of 20-25 minutes each by the newly appointed professor, followed by a moderated discussion on the societal implications of their research. The event concludes with a small reception.
The two speakers will be Prof. Yasin Dagdas (COS) and Prof. Simon Wiegert (Med. Fac. MA).
