new public lecture series[Bio(R)Evolution]

Bio(R)evolutions: new Faces, new Ideas, new Horizons

The faculty for Biosciences announces the first edition of a new public lecture series entitled "Bio(R)evolutions: new Faces, new Ideas, new Horizons" on June 10th 2024 at 17:30 in the Bertalanffy Lecture Hall, INF230.

This series is meant to introduce newly appointed professors of our faculty to the academic community. On that occasion our new colleagues will present their past achievements, ongoing projects, and the potential societal impact of their work. Additionally, the lectures highlight the relevance of fundamental research at the University of Heidelberg in addressing major societal challenges, potentially linking to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The target audience includes faculty members, students, researchers, and the general public interested in biosciences. The lecture format typically involves two presentations of 20-25 minutes each by the newly appointed professor, followed by a moderated discussion on the societal implications of their research. The event concludes with a small reception.

The first two speakers will be Prof. Dr. Kerstin Göpfrich (ZMBH)  and  Prof. Dr. Gáspár Jékely (COS).
