The Bertalanffy Lecture Series was installed with the aim to provide a better understanding of integrative approaches in systems oriented biology both to pupils from Heidelberg and to scientists on campus. The lecture series is a project supported by the Klaus-Tschira Foundation and usually takes place twice a year. For more information visit: 

The Bertalanffy Lecture at COS will start on February 29^th 2024 with Detlev Arendt (EMBL Heidelberg/COS)^. On Thursday, he will give a lecture for high school students on "The origin of the nervous system - decision-making in early animals". On March ^1st  he'll talk about "Building bilateral brains: Innovations in molecular machinery, neuron types and circuits". Both lectures start at 2 pm in the Ludwig von Bertalanffy Lecture Hall, Im Neuenheimer Feld 230.
