MSc Molecular Biosciences Application

We welcome applications from students who have earned, or expect to earn, a relevant bachelor's degree with a grade above average (Guidelines: German system: minimum 2.4; UK system: 2.1 or better.) by the end of the academic year preceding the desired semester of entry. Many of the applicants are in their final year of their Bachelor.

Subjects should generally focus on some aspect of the biological sciences, but students with other relevant degrees, e.g. in chemistry or physics, may be considered for some courses (see relevant web links for more information).

The application portal will open in February.

The deadline for the next round of selection is March 15, 2027.

Program start date: October each year.

When applying, you are expected to indicate your preferred major and any second preference. The number of available seats in each major is limited. Initial selection is based on grades earned to date and other relevant qualifications and experience. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview.

NOTE: The APS has to be submitted before the deadline. Only the language proof can be postponed.

Invitations to the interviews

Only candidates with a high preranking will be contacted by email. If you do not get an invitation it means, that you did not pass the first round successfully. This is irrespective of your first and second preference. In HeiCO it still might be mentioned that “the application documents have been received but have not been completely checked yet”, we understand this is a bit confusing but your documents have been reviewed nonetheless. You can check the file below in the download-section for your application nr. to check whether you should have received an invitation for an interview.

As can be seen on the right, the amount of applications is rather high and reasons why individual candidates are not invited will not be disclosed. Some general remarks about this can be found in the FAQ section (top right).
